“Two pictures taken one afternoon in my studio, when a ray of light shone through the door and hit the sketch of the installation, can demonstrate the effect. This is remarkable, considering that the sketch consists of just eight compact discs. Il progetto HELIOPOLIS - la città luminosa - è una installazione da effettuare su una Torre Idrica. L’installazione prevede l’intera ricopertura della cisterna circolare superiore con compact disc. HELIOPOLIS rappresenta i colori della luce rifranta quale espressione, in chiave cromatica, di note virtuali. La scala armonica è quella creata dallo sguardo che, da ogni direzione, può catturare le diverse tonalità di colore create dai raggi del sole riflessi sui CD. Dal bianco assoluto al blu, al rosso, al giallo; i colori primari si uniranno a creare ulteriori sfumature. Non più un solo arcobaleno, simbolo universale, ma una moltitudine insieme.

The project HELIOPOLIS – shining city – consists of an installation to be set up on a Water Tower. The installation involves the covering of the circular tank on the top of the tower with compact discs. HELIOPOLIS represents the colours of refracted light as the expression of virtual notes, in a chromatic key. The harmonic scale is created by the gaze that, from every direction, can capture the different shades of colour created by the sunlight reflected on the CDs. From absolute white to blue, red and yellow, primary colours will join to create additional shades. And this is no longer just a rainbow, a universal symbol, but a multitude together.

“A dimostrazione dell’effetto ci sono queste due fotografie di un pomeriggio nel mio studio in cui un raggio di sole penetrava dalla porta e colpiva il bozzetto dell’installazione. L’effetto è straordinario tenendo conto che il bozzetto è composto da soli otto compact disc.
